ALBERTON & NORTHPORT Continue your tour from Tignish
& North Cape by following the North Cape Coastal Drive
to Alberton & Northport and discover why early French
explorer, Jacques Cartier referred to this area as "the
fairest land 'tis possible to see!"
In
Alberton the Museum and Genealogy Centre houses a display
chronicling the Island's fox farming industry glory
days in the early 1900s while historic murals adorn the
town's streets. It is located on Hwy. 12 at 457 Church St. The building itself is a restored 1878 courthouse.
Stroll through the welcoming shops, chat with the locals
at the cafe or relax beside the town pond, possibly even
with a fishing pole in hand.
Continue along to The Northport Pier, a unique destination
in the midst of a quaint fishing village. Enjoy outdoor
concerts, a stroll on the boardwalk; and a panoramic view
with great blue herons gracing the shoreline. The Pier
Restaurant is serving up a relaxed dining experience offering
a traditional sea faring menu with an amazing view of
an active fishing port.
Strike
up a conversation with a fisher returning to port with
the catch of the day. Then get ready to join us for one
of our many community events such as the Prince County
Exhibition, Alberton Days, Canada Day celebrations or
Northport Aquatic Days.
